Im Fuming. beyond stupid...

just got back from taking sam for a late walk as he was restless. was going to post with only good news but i now have good and make you angry news..

took sam for a mile long walk and left his halti hanging up indoors.. just a flat collar and lead.. he walked on a loose lead beside me like and angel for the whole walk..such a contrast to 6 weeks ago when a halti was my last resort to stop him pulling like a cart horse.. im so happy and now a firm believer that a halti gets them used to not pulling and cures the problem.(for me anyway)

now brace yourselves

about half a mile from home walking along the road i spotted a couple ahead standing on the corner on the other side of the road. sam was aware and watching them as we walked and as we got level with them the girl said "excuse me".. i thought she was going to ask for directions or to see Sam.. "is your dog male" still thinking she just liked sheps, yes, i said, why? then out of the shadow behind her partner came a Rottie xGSD, and they both crossed over to where i was with the dog..

"shes in season and we looking for a mate". this is her last day probably"
well! i was gobsmacked...
she wasnt on a lead so the fella was holding her back with her collar. she was lunging at sam and definately not in a friendly manner.....

in my head i was thinking of all the million and one things i wanted to say but its raining, late and sam getting agitated cos this lunatic dog wants to screw and scrap all at the same time.. dog looked cared for and nice enough young couple just extremely stupid and would have been wasting my time and voice...

i said, "apart from the fact he is only 5 months old he will never be used as a 'mate'.... why on earth would you want to mate her"..

well said the girl. when we got her she still had her dew claws and they get in the way.. we cant afford to take her to the vet to have them removed so we want to breed her and sell the puppies so we can get it done.... had no words that were legal and wasnt about to get into a fight with 2 strangers and a psycotic dog so i just walked off.
i walked home in shock and am still dazed by theyre stupidity now..

Words fail me! Go to the fecking PDASA if you have money problems or are on a low income and get your animal it's treatment for low or no cost there!

You have to feel for the Dog having to live with owners like that....Dew Claw Removal? Do they know how much it would cost if the girl had probs whelping and the other costs involved when having a litter

Sorry, but if you cannot afford vets bills you should not own a dog - how incredibly irresponsible.

As for the reason for mating their obviously under socialised dog, I just can't understand people like that, as if this world needs more unwanted puppies to end up in a rescue.

There are just so many things wrong with this that I can't even put it into words.
