sorry long rant

i posted earlier about getting a long line and harness. i wasnt going to get a long line. sam is good off the lead when we alone and his recal is good, he doesnt want to go far from me. olive is the same.. joe is a different story and im getting totally p****d off. not with joe, with my worser half because its making things difficult for me with sam...

david loves joe,but treats him like a child that can do no wrong.... really he is his dog (although i feed him,(joe) pick up his poo, wash his yellow legs everytime he has a pee and do all the work involved, but he is his dog )

he says he is the perfect specemin of a dog, and he is ,he is lovely but naughty as o/h treats him like he has a human brain and i am silently fuming most of the time.. i ask him not to give him tit bits.. joe is naturally a scavenger and encouraged he is awful. soon as the biccy tin open he there and it pees me off as it make my job hard and sam will start copying..
last night i watched out the corner of my eye. david was eating harribos and joe was sitting staring at him and i saw him try to slip him one.. i yelled at joe to go to bed and david quickly put his hand back in packet..

when we walk all the dogs on the beach woods or wherever david lets joe off and lets him run wherever he wants.. he will let him off lead as soon as we out the car and im not ready to let sam off so sam is howling and jumping like a mad dog. then joe will run.. and run and run.. he will spot a dog on other side of the beach and go.. i dont want sam to do that and at first he wasnt, he would go to run after joe but come back when i called. now hes getting bigger he stops when i call him, deliberates but 8 times out of 10 goes after joe developing deaf ears only coming if i call joe and joe comes back .joe will come back when hes seen who he wants to see but often too far away to hear.and if i shout as joe scoots off to see whatever david says leave him.

he says joe needs to be free as he is a whippet/hunter/forrager/scout (what bollocks!) .... hes a dog and all rules apply to all dogs. often the dogs on the beach have elderly owners and are on leads and by the time david calls joe its too late... joe is all over them, only playing but i wouldnt want it if my dog was on a lead and i get embarrassed and walk the other way. sam wants to play but i want him to play when i say and when i know the dogs are ok and owners too..

when we in the woods joe will run in front and as its dense and bendy and hilly sometimes be out of sight for 10 mins or so till he comes back. i dont want sam out of sight..its making good runs so stressful for me im not enjoying them so i have for now made the decision not to take Sam and Joe on walks together.. long line will be for when i do decided to take him again.. for now peaceful walks just me and sam and olive too..david wont like it but i dont care. im sick of him not listening and its making me fecked off beyond belief..
gonna leave perfect Whippet to perfect im never wrong man... sorry if ive gone on. he out fishing for 3 days so had time to think and get crosser and crosser.

I know exactly what you mean. You work so hard to train & get some manners into your dog & the man of the house undoes it all!

I think the long line is a good idea. That way you can keep control of little Sam, and David can let Joe go his own way!

Eurgh! The bad habits of the hunter gatherer! (apparently)

My god, if i say he is having 400grams of food, he gets given 500.
If i teach him a technique i'v learnt at puppy class, he already knows it.
''Please don't feed the dog's chocolate.....you are doing them no good''
Response: but look at them, one piece will do them no harm.

They always know better, they think we are stupid and our training is pointless (exceptions to the men of this forum who train and treat their dogs as a dog and do the best they can possibly do by them)

People who are not fans or lovers of dog's or do have knowledge on their behaviour and lives of the canine will never understand why we do what we do.
They will always try to undermine our rules and regs and the only way we can overcome their annoyingly, stubborn, arrogant mannerisms is to continue to create a bond so strong with our dog's that our pooches will ignore their babbling and listen to who really knows best

LucyA is on a distinguished road
I know what you mean, we are having this argument at the moment over table scraps. I have banned Blitz having any left overs unless they are placed in his bowl after we have finished dinner as he jumps at people at the table when we have food. He thinks this means that it's OK to give him scraps from the table - as long as I don't see it, killer!

Oooohhh I am so please that Allison and I are on the same page with this subject,.. because although I am mainly the one to deal with the dogs, we always talk about how things should be, so that we are always consistant with each other, that was it doesnt matter who feeds the dogs, [and we both do] they always get what has been arranged
