Good deeds.

If you could organise an event for a dog charity and raise or give money to them, who would it be and why?

It would be (and has been ) German Shepherd Rescue Scotland. I volunteer for this charity and know how dedicated all the volunteers are to ensuring the dogs get the best possible home. Kennel and vet fees are always huge and with more dogs coming in all the time, the charity is always desperate for any extra fundraising.

Mine would be German Shepherd Rescue Scotland too, even though we were not suitable to adopt a dog (children too young) the lovely lady who runs it took the time to ring me chat about recognising good breeders, good training classes in the area and loads of other really good advice. She was wonderful.. as was Stuart through this forum!

I think this is going to be pretty location specific....

Slightly off topic but I have to say that I am slightly unhappy about the fact that there are so many dogs in rescue and the rescue societies are always short of money, yet they are prepared to spend £12,000 on a single dog. I wonder how many other dogs could be helped with that sort of money.....

I would ( and do) send my money to Valgrays Border Collie rescue - a small organisation run by a lady who does fantastic work with BCs (and other breeds).

Jude,

Sam deserves as much a chance at having a happy life as any other dog...

I've overnighted or fostered in excess of 30 dogs and transported over 200, Sam was a very special dog... I sat with him in my garden whilst he threw the ball to me to play with... he has one of the best temprements I've ever seen. When I watched the video's posted by the rescue of him walking 8 weeks after the surgury it was quite moving... He is one helluva dog...

And of course other dogs could be helped with this money but who are you to get upset about how other people spend their money, feel free to ignore the thread, Sam wouldn't want your money....

Sam is a truely deserving dog... With attitudes like yours the rescue world would be a sad place...
