Would your next dog be a GSD
..... or has yours put you off for life!!!!
I was just wondering if people with sheps would get another one or if their dog has been that hard work that they would get a different breed next time? I am thinking about future dogs, we could never have another one while we have Sully because it would be a disaster but not sure about the future.
Does anyone else feel like this?

After we lost Jazz our first GSD, I said never again! She was hard work! But after a while I missed having a big dog about, so we got Ozzie. He has been an absolute dream and because he was so good, we have ended up with Mason too. In all fairness to both Ozzie and Mason they are really good, they get on really well and I love watching them play together! I can't see me ever being without a shepherd again!!

As bad as this will probably sound through writing, i try to mentally prepare myself for the day we lose our first boy. (i don't plan his funeral or anything just comprehend that he will not be here forever)
I was actually thinking how amazing he has been with Skye and how she would cope without him and in answer to your question i would have no problems in owning another GSD no matter what may have been thrown at us with these two, they are all different, but next time i would try a lot more rescues first, at the same time i would be open to accept any other large breed of dog purely because i love the larger breeds.
Seeing these two together now i know dog's love being with their own species and they teach each other much more than i ever could. I think i will be one of those people who always has a dog if not one then two

I can't imagine a nicer dog than Lukey and even thinking about losing him is painful. I have learned and I go on learning about dogs through him.
I would think about a middle aged to older rescue in the future espcecially if it didn't have too many problems as I am not that experienced or young! But I do love them. I doubt I could have another black one though.

I can't see myself ever having a different type of dog. IMO the other breeds don;t even come close. Don't get me wrong at times I've nearly been pushed to my limit with blood sweat and tears but when they've come good its been worth every second of the hell!

After my first GSD Oskar I vowed never to have another, he was a very difficult dog and had to watched like a hawk with people and other dogs. Two weeks after he died I was searching for a pup and had to wait months before the right one was born. Two years later Logan arrived, I vowed never to have another boy but that didn't last long. Petra and Logan are the best of friends. The next one will be one of Petra's daughters in a couple of years time, wouldn't contemplate another breed.

I think I'll always have at least one shep. I didn't want a shep as my second dog, but Harley found his way to us, and I don't regret it (although he is the typical annoying little brother - he's brought a lot of confidence in other dogs to Jess).
I think in the future though, I'll probably have one shep and a small breed (a Westie more than likely).
