Pets now take into account in disaster management plans in Qld
2011 has been a bad year for Qld. With many pet owners refusing to leave their pets behind - the evacuation of companion animals is now part of Queensland's disaster management planning including allocating space in shelters and the evacuation of companion animals with their owners.
I think this is a wonderful step forward and a state government beginning to acknowledge that to many of us our pets are beloved members of our family.

I'm glad to hear that they are starting to take note of the importance that pets can have for their owners...
When disaster strikes getting out with your pet be it a dog or a budggie, can makes so much difference to your recovery be it a physical need or a mental need of coming to terms with what happened...
