Our darling Addie has filled out ie put on muscle tone and looks even more stunning than the previous photograph.
A lot of the gsds over here are byb slopped back with obvious (to me anyway) HD and ED.
Addie is more "straight backed", moves like an absolute dream and I've had several people ask me where I got her from and asking about her breed lines.
I've been told that she must have some really good bloodlines and I was asked by one person whether I was going to show her - another asked if I was going to breed with her.
I tell them all about her background and that she's now de-sexed after a lifetime of pumping out puppies.
I'm so proud of how she looks now and her behaviour is improving too. We've done a couple of off-lead group walks with her. She's beginning to trust people (other than me and my husband) and is so much more relaxed.
I get up at 4.30am in the morning to take all the girls out up the park so they can run off lead before it gets too hot - never thought I'd be doing that!!
The behaviour side has been so much more difficult than the physical rehabilitation. I do have her on a herbal anti-anxiety medication recommened by my vet.
She's still a work-in-progress behaviour wise but I know we'll get there!!
It's funny because people are always telling me how Dino has HD because of his sloped back. The sloped back is correct.
I'm glad she's looking so great after you saved her, but from your description she won't be "well bred" especially if a PF got hold of her. Do you have any before and after pics? Would be nice to see the difference
A 'sloping back' as you call it as no correlation between HD & ED the German lines in Oz are very strictly regulated with restrictions on hips & elbows scores must be 12 each hip or below to allow litter registration and elbows normal, 1 or 2 with no UAP
Have a read of the ANKC rules as you will find breeders using German stock will be members

Hi Pam you're right I've noticed that they are strict over here - maybe that's why you pay at least 1500 AUD or more for a registered dog?

If you look back on the threads you'll see I posted some pictures of her progress. When she arrived in Brisbane she was 17kg
