KC and Petlog?!

Hi everyone..again!

I'm a little confused but perhaps I'm being thick.

On the KC website, there's a direct link on the navigation bar to Petlog.

And on the Petlog website it says at the bottom of the page 'Copyright © The Kennel Club 2011.'

Storm obviously has a certificate from Petlog to say he's chipped but I'm confused as to whether that means he's KC registered too? Or is Petlog a seperate organization created by KC?

I'm probably being really dumb here but an explanation would be handy to fizzle things out in my brain!

Petlog is a stand alone data base...

Jones is on the Petlog data base, and he's not KC registered so is Tilly my cat.. Oh Ellie is too she's is apparently KC registered but paperwork wasn't handed into rescue with her...

Ok thanks for that. That's cleared things up!

You don't happen to have a Petlog account do you? I've been trying to register my boy under petlog premium to my account with his chip and ID number but it keeps telling me there's an error? I don't suppose you've had the same problem have you? Or anyone else?

Petlog isn't the only chip registry, it could be that Storms chip is with another company!

No I haven't I've just got the basic log that it..

Next time you've got storm at the vets get them to scan his chip, they should if I'm right be able to tell you which company he's registered with..

Is storm a rehomed dog?

When dogs/cats are rehomed the previous owners need to notify that they are no longer the owner so that it can be transfered into a new owners name.. So it might be wise to phone them up (which ever company he's registered with) and explain the situation, and if you've got adoption/transfer of ownership then you can ask where you can fax a copy to for prove of change of ownership etc..

Storms chip is a Tracer and our other dogs is RSPCA, both have petlog certificates.

We've had Diesel since 8 weeks and he's 7 months now and having a problem adding him to my petlog account too. Could be a fault, will call them when their lines are open again.

If anyone is wondering, Diesel is mine and my housemates dog and the reason we cant have storm with us currently is because my land lady doesn't want 2 dogs here. (just incase I didn't mention it in my first thread).

Should hopefully have him with me in a few months though due to consideration by my landlady. Fingers crossed!

Out of interest, why will the landlady consider one dog but not two?

Very often a landlord/lady will allow pets, or be persuaded to allow pets, subject to a higher deposit. Carpets must be professionally cleaned at the end of the tenancy - or replaced if they are not able to be cleaned.

You need to contact the RSPCA see what the shelter policy is as it slightly changes with each shelter, some transfer chip over (as in our case with Jones) others don't, as in the case with Ellie her chip is registered to the rescue we adopted her from

Several reasons, sometimes it's a case of 2+ dogs increase risk of damage and/or ware and tare on carpets furniture etc, also they may feel that there's not enough space for than one..

Sadly where I live you'll be very hard pushed to find any private landlord willing to allow any pets and local housing associations are very strict to what properties they allow animals in even a cat!

The housing association I rent from, requires me to have written permision for any animal even my tropical fish tank, I was shocked when I took this house on the max for dogs was 5 I did say to the housing officer I assumed she meant 5 rug rats and not 5 spaniels!
