I will watch this thread with interest, as I also use a vileda and it just doesn't last when you are having to mop floors twice a day

lol,.. our dogs have cost us a lot of money,.. we laid solid wood floors everywhere because of muddy feet, so now a normal mop is usually good enough.
When they are really bad,..after coming home from a walk we have the `dog pond` a small pond that they use in the summer to keep cool, in the winter it doubles up as a after walk bath, before going into a conservatory to sort of drip dry.
Incidently Kirsty,.. the conservatory is also our `quarenteen [sp] area` during the midgie season, they get let in there, while they are sprayed with `raid` fly spray and left of 10 minutes,..enough time to kill all midies before being let into the house

is Raid safe to use on or near the dogs?
wouldnt you be better spraying with an equine fly repelent before taking them out?

We use a vileda mop - they have brought a new mop head out, mainly white in colour.
I have some large, thin bath sheets and I put one or two of these down depending on the weather. If I catch the first four paws then it really keeps the mess down.
When the towels are dirty I hang them on the line to blow some of the mud and hair off then put in boil wash. As they are thin they are soon dry and so we start again - but it does help a lot.

I feel your pain. OMG my floors! I also use a vileda mop but I stuff the head in the washing machine once a week.
One thing I have done which has helped loads is put mats down infront of the entrances but unless they are long ones so the dogs step on them with each paw it wont do much. I have a 6ft runner style mat infront of the back door and one under the dog flap.

Raid,.. the blue spray [not the red which is for other flying things,..i.e. ants] was recommended to us well before we got the Shepherds, we used it then on a Collie and an Elkhound, so I guess we have been using it for close on ten years.
....and that means many times a day/night, we dare not let them in at any time covered in midies,..and it works fine, we just spray above their backs as they come through the door and a three second burst into the air,..with never any effect at all
