Beki is a jewel in the rough
It has really opened my eyes that's for sure. If say ears are left eventually you will kill the ear off and it will fall apart as the blood can't circulate properly it kills the skin off. Someone I met had a poodle who went to the vets being sick and she had such long ears the owner tied them back behind her head together but dude it by the fur, vets had to re do it but did it with the actual ears and she now has parts of the bottoms of her ears missing where the blood was cut off

Beks like Tracey says I don't know how you bite your tongue, you must want to give them a peace of your mind

I think it's disgusting that people would show such a complete lack of care towards their dog.....they don't deserve them!

laney is on a distinguished road
Those poor babies , so glad they at least come to you to be comfortable again , its hard with clients ( I know lol ) its a fine line between educating and p###ing people off and risk they dont come again , Ive had to learn to keep my mouth shut on many occasions with some horse owners , eg a very lame mare owned by a kid and her clueless mother , i tried many times to talk to them to no avail and in the end I insisted as yard owner she could not be ridden on my premises until a vet had looked at her , their reaction ? they left !! Ive seen this same mare being used at a local teaching college ( jokes ) in lessons and yes she is still very lame , poor love , I guess neglect can come in many forms huh ? Lx

Tedsmum will become famous soon enough
I know how you feel Beki.
When I was a vet nurse we used to get cases in where we had to anaesthetise the dog in order to shave it to the skin. This was usually either because the dog was in such discomfort it would not co operate or that there was such a risk of tearing the skin it would have been painful.
It happens in the poshest of homes sometimes in the richest of neighbourhoods. People just don't seem to understand that grooming is as much a part of looking after a dog as feeding and walking it.
Once when I pointed out to an owner that her border collie had huge mats the size of a fist behind each ear, she looked shocked and said she thought it was all part of his ears!

Yeh we have sent dogs away half shaved to the vets as its just too risky carrying on. We have a matted release form that has the word neglect in it in bold capital letters this usually shocks them also we mention the animal welfare act and explain we would be breaking the law to brush them out
