Beki is a jewel in the rough
What is wrong with some people!!!!

We had 2 goldies in today who had to have their bellies completley shaved off as they where matted solid from front to (and including) their bits (we couldnt feel which was the male and which was the female!) and the rest of their coat was completley packed with dead undercoat both took most of the day to do!!!!! they come in 2-3 times a year and are always in a mess, they are getting on a bit now as well bless them. One time when they came in and it was commented to the owner about the poor condition they where in she turned round and said "well yes they just dont brush themselves do they!" and she said it totally seriously!!!!!!!!! It makes me sooooo mad when people just dont bother to look after their dogs, there is absolutly no reason for a dog to get matted in my opinion, It costs nothing to brush your dog at the end of the day!
We also had a cocker in who's ears where rock solid, i have never seen ears like it and the owner wasnt even bothered and said "oh i tried to cut them with scissors last night" they where so matted that we had to use a blade that was shorted than what they use as a surgical blade!!! she was 14 bless her, felt so sorry for her all she wants is to live her last time out in comfort and they let her get in such a state poor soul

Some people just do not deserve to have doggies sometimes Sorry rant over lol

Poor beasts :-(

I don't know how they get away with it either - Olli brings his brush to me if I've forgotten to brush him! He gets brushed daily!

Just matted so they get tighter and tighter and dirty and they can't clean them coz the matts trap the dirt then the skin gets bad as it can not breath under all the matting. The smell was stomach churning bless her

Don't blame you. I've had a springer and a cavvie so brushed and combed a lot of ears and occasionally had to clip the odd knotty bit. I can still remember the feel of my springer's ear across my hand and how soft it was when I combed it (would comb quite easily when I was on top of them). Bringing a lump to my throat, so trusting

It must be so hard to keep your mouth shut and stay professional. I'd be no good, my mouth would be saying the words before my brain could engage.
It's one of the things I find hardest with Sasha, keeping her nicely groomed. She was so nervous when I first got her, it was a patch here and a patch there that got groomed. Not sure the breeder ever bothered. I just did a little every day and gave her a treat, building it up. She'll now let me do the whole lot in one go but still not happy about it.
It's not a good situation for those poor dogs to be in, but at least they bring them to you 2 or 3 times a year, imagine how they would be if just left, poor things.

That's terrible, some people shouldn't be given the honour of owning a dog.

The sad thing is imagine how many dogs there are out there whose owners can't even be arsed to take their dog however bad it gets - criminal!
