Has Anyone Noticed........

The alarming number of Huskies/Mals you see about now?

There are almost as many as there are stafflets where I am

Might take the heat off us lot for a bit but it'll all end in tears, BSL will be aimed at them next

What do you reckon?

There are alot of huskies around by me, I mainly only ever see them being walked to and from school run and through town centre. There is one chap I see who goes running with his husky.

I went shopping on Sunday to the next town up, only a smallish town, but I saw 6 huskies! Very rarely saw them once upon a time, they are certainly becoming more popular!!

Same here, I see one woman who runs with her dog tied to her every day. The rest I see plodding along the street, or talking to someone who's cooing over the pretty husky, they so need to run, that's what they were made for

Very sad that people don't research before they buy a dog

Totally with you Zetstaff I get quite annoyed at it. where my o/h children live there are a couple in that road, at one house the single husky has taken to escaping and going for a run himself, and at the other house they have 2 that just howl all day long and get sod all walks

A friend of mine is heavily into CaniX and that is fab for the huskies/mals that get to do that.

I was aware that some husky/mal rescue will only rehome to homes that do CaniX etc

I recently read that Huskies were becoming one of the most popular dogs.

Yes frikkin hundreds round here and most owner by people who dont have a clue.
I see on poor thing that never leaves a small garden and a whole string of people who are being dragged around by dogs they can't let off the lead for fear of not getting them back.

I am in the process of assisting a young girl who bought a Malamute cross Husky cross Czech Wolf dog. Stunning dog but a handful and she has never owned a dog before and is about 18. Recipe for disaster so I am being helpful with training suggestions when we meet her on a walk.
Local rescues are filling up with this kind of dog - such a bloody shame.

Exactly what I see regularly. Because they are high energy they get shut in the garden and isolated.
The dog I mentioned previoiusly has chewed his way through and entire 3 piece suite and regularly bites the owners for attention.
Guess what, he has improved since going out for a walk twice a day - Doh!
The other day I suggested she may want to try a Halti etc to stop him pulling her down the street, she had never heard of them.

sami is a jewel in the rough
Same here they are definitely the new trend, there is already one in our very small local rescue.

There is a young one called Luna we see on our walks, Leo is in love with her. She is a great dog but so full of energy she is buzzing.
