If I didnt own a GSD it would have probably been a different story, he probably would not have flipped at me and not minded a game of chase. I know my dog, so I act accordingly in the situation I`m in. Roxy thrives on chasing any small moving things, be it a ball, cats, small dogs and young children. When we encounter any of the above she is kept on the lead so I have her under control at all times, it would be irresponsible and possibly dangerous to let her run free chasing anything she wants but yesterday, because of his attitude I let her go. She came back to me because we work on the recall and she loves chasing the ball.
It probably didnt do our local reputation any good as it looked like Roxy was the terror, but I know what happened and I dont really care what people think, more dog owners I`m meeting the more I am disliking them.
When I enter a field if I see people playing with their dogs or clearly dont wish to be bothered I will everything possible to keep Rox away from them by throwing the ball in the opposite direction and making myself look more exciting than anything else even running across the field screaming like a girl to get her to focus on me. Looks daft but it works, keeps her with me and not disrupting anyone else.
Really am getting fed up of other dog owners though, some people even pick their dogs up or cross the road when we are out walking, its frigging ridiculous. No one else seems to pick up after their dog which winds me up so much, offered someone a bag the other week after they walked away from their dogs stool, they went bright red and put their hands in their pockets and dug a poog bag out an cleared it up, only because I said something though!
Fact is I`m getting sick and tired of people acting pathetic because shes a GSD. Feel a bit better writing all that, getting it off my chest!
Thanks for your comments, and I`m glad you all agreed with what I did
