ROXY is on a distinguished road
Fed up of other people!

Not had a good day at work today and was not in a good mood along with a few other things so this evening I had enough!

While out walking with Roxy on her lead we took a shortcut through a field and was greated by a small ish dog (dont know what breed) running around and jumping up at us both constantly for ages it seemed. Managing to keep my arm attached to my body I asked the owner politely to recall his dog he just laughed and said "hes only playing" , Annoyed with that I bent down and unclipped Roxys lead and she gave chase, chased so much infact the little dog ran out of the field! This bloke was fuming and I sarcastically replied "shes only playing" which led to quite a heated arguement in the field while my Roxy is still chasing this little dog like a cat chasing a mouse!

Of course, other people witnessed this and I look like the bad person with the so called dangerous out of control dog upsetting everyone. Not the case! I just wanted to walk with Roxy round the edge of the field on the lead and hoped that people would respect that and recall their dogs as I do when I meet other people with their dogs on the lead!

With a wave of the yellow ball and calling her name Roxy came thundering back over to me, clipped her lead back on and off we went to the sound of him still shouting abuse at me. Idiot!

Good for you, you were obviously in control of your dog it sounds pretty much like the guy couldn't get a recall in his dog and thinks cause its small then it's ok. There are many times I'd like to let my three off when people do this. Maybe next time they will all give you the space you want, and by the sounds of it Roxy had a ball

Aww it`s not a nice experience when a walk winds you up instead of being enjoyable. Good on Roxy for coming back, people just don`t understand that all dogs of all shapes and sizes should have basic manners and a good recall.
Hope todays walks are better

I really do sympathize with you. I think the majority of dog owners are like that - no recall over their dogs.

Brilliant that Roxy came back - if she hadn't it wouldn't have been two dogs 'playing' it would have been nasty GSD chasing little dog who even though off lead, no recall, annoying other dogs would have got no blame.

You acted perfectly (so did Roxy) as it's unfair for one dog to be on a lead and the other not on lead.

The other owner is not only biased but clearly has no knowledge of GSD's. If a GSD was NOT 'just playing' he would know about it. Sasha approached a lab on a lead this morning with a bit too much vigour (I was picking up her poo at the time) but I apologised to the owner, who got into a bit of a tangle in the lead, as it was my fault. No dog is perfect (except a GSD) nor is the owner, dog owners should have a better understanding for others and not just themselves.
