Can anyone recommend a good vacuum?

Wanting to get a new hoover, The one i have has appalling suction and the hose always comes out every five minutes

Wanting a upright one obviously mainly for dog hairs has to be pretty light have both carpets and wooden flooring.

Ideally i wanted the Dyson DC25 animal but spending near on 300quid on a hoover upsets me abit.

Wanting to spend between 100 and 200. Its a shame you cant try before you buy as dont want to pay all that money and be stuck with a crap hoover again

Any ideas or recommendations?

I'm sure mines a dirt devil, got it for £100 from Argos about 2 years ago and it's still going strong, I did get the pet version though.

Tedsmum will become famous soon enough
Would never have anything other than a Dyson now. Got my first one about 10 years ago and am a total convert.
Some shops do reconditioned ones and they last forever so that may be a cheaper option.
