Kennels in Wirral?

I'm just wondering if anyone on here could recommend any kennels that they have used in the Wirral? Due to an unexpected phone call I have to go away next weekend but my parents are also both away so I have no dog sitter and bringing the dog is not an option I've done a google search but Glenbrittle and Ivy both seem the only two real choices, however being a part of the animal industry I know people who have worked at both places and neither would really recommend them... Although that may be pettiness since it was an issue they had with other staff. And the place I used to work at is a definite no no!! So I'm not sure where to put my lovely little boy. I also can't have a pet sitter stay at mine as my dad would hit the roof so either a kennels or someone who looks after dogs in their own home is my choice

Not sure if we are too late, but I have asked my cousin who lives in St. Helen's and is a dog groomer, if she knows of anywhere. Just waiting for her to get back to me!

Thanks I had a home boarder recommended to me, spoke to her on the phone and she sounded quite nice. I paid her a visit yesterday with my mum to introduce Kaiser and check things out and it turns out my mum has known her husband for over 20 years! So I think that is a better option than kennels She also only charges £10 a day so cheaper too!

Sounds like a good idea. I have used one of the kennels you mentioned (feel free to pm for more details) and have refused to ever put another animal in there ever again My poor boy came home in such a state that we had to have his coat shaved underneath as he was in such a state. We had to supply our own food as they didnt stock the type he was on and when I picked him up they gave me too much food back for him to have been fed properly so never again

I'm sorry I don't know of kennels in your area.
We have only ever used kennels this last 2 years, in all the 38 years we have had dogs.
This kennel was highly recommended to us .
Jazmin goes just for the day (she has stayed over night once)
The dogs are walked twice every day, played with in a separate agility area.
They are wiped down after each walk.
They have their own 'kennel maid' for the day.
I can't praise this place enough.
In the high season it is £25 per day, whether you bring them home before six or they stay over night in there heated/air controlled kennel.
This price, I know sounds high.
I feel Jazmin is happy and safe with these lovely people, like most things in life, you get what you pay for. jmo

Wow that place sounds amazing Mazz, if only all kennels were like that! I used to get so many compliments from customers at the kennels I worked at, there were only three staff and I only worked weekends but always had people tell me that their dogs came home happier after staying 2 days of a weekend than 2 days in the week. I thought they were just being nice so I'd take good care of their dogs next time (I always did even if the owners were snotty!) but I shared a shift with the owner a few times when we were full and saw her kicking dogs! I'd walked the same dogs the day before (lab and bull dog) and they were lovely little things, tugged a bit to get out of the gate from excitement then calmed right down and happily sniffed away so there was no need to kick the poor things at all, I was beyond shocked! She also told me what I could and couldn't say to visitors as they kept being refused a kennels licence.... Their exercise time also depended on how many dogs were in the kennels. I started at 9 and had to finish by 12, 1 if we were full otherwise I wasn't paid. I started cleaning all the cats and dogs out, feeding them, etc then when I had finished all of that I took them for walks and played with the cats because I didn't mind doing it in my own time as I enjoyed spending time with the animals and wanted to give them the attention I would want my own animals to have. I nearly got the sack for doing that! I explained but was told I was giving the wrong impression, that it made her feel she didn't care about the animal's welfare, etc.... When we were full it was horrible because a 5 minute time limit on a walk for a dog is just plain mean!!! Then if one had the runs and I had to spend extra time cleaning the kennel it would cut all the walkies time down further And unfortunately most of the kennels around my area are quite similar from what my friends have told me, has really put me off!
