i have just read where it says vets think the german shepherd is most inclined to be agressive , my Jake is the softest most loving dog i know he is the first shepherd i have had i was brought up with labradors form being a baby and had a labrador before Jake he was brought up with my kids from babies and was brilliant with them i had to have him put to sleep aged 15 bless him .
i just wanted to say when my son was 3 years old he is now 26 he was mauled by a labrador his face ripped apart all one side of his face the skin was hanging off and his lip was bitten off he needed over 300 stitches in his face and constant surgery on his lip until he was in his teens as the nerves had been damaged and this was done by a labrador not a german shepherd or any other so called dangerous dog , if you look at dog attacks you will see quite a few are by labradors and they are not on the dangerous dog list .
when Bruce my labrador went to doggy heaven we got Jake my shepherd and winston who was a big soft bull mastiff, i researched and researched on which dogs to get with children before coming to the decision and it was the best decision i made .
i think all dogs have the ability to attack its how they are brought up what makes them a good dog and its a few stupid owners that make the dogs dangerous and the pathetic people that get dogs for the status symbal ( ooh look at me im hard ive got this big dog with me ) sort of people

Simply WOW, almost makes me angry this, how can you ban The breeds: English Bull Terrier, Staffordshire Bull Terrier, American Pit Bull Terrier, Rottweiler, German Shepherd (Alsatian), Doberman, Rhodesian Ridgeback, Japanese Akita, Bull Mastiff, Japanese Tosa and Bandog. Cross-breeds of these dogs or crosses of these dogs with any other breed are also banned.
its outragous! they'll give those dogs to the police and army but not ourselves and turn them very good natured dogs in to aggressive dogs on to the citizens, its DISGRACFUL Ill sign the petiton and i would protest as well i think i might make a facebook group, am really outraged by this.

I strongly believe most dog attacks are solely the owners fault. Having said that i do believe certain dogs are predisposed to being bad. I do think pit bulls are wired wrong.

I disagree. I have a friend who has a male pit bull and he is the nicest most docile dog I have ever met. Probably because he has been trained, socialised and very well cared for from day one.

How has he managed to get hold of one if they are banned?

Very few dogs are geneticly aggressive. POOR breeding, training, and treatment make aggressive dogs. Ban breeds all you want there will always be dog bites as long as there are dogs. Where one breed is gone another will move into top spot of "most dog bites".
I work with and rehab agressive dogs everyday. That is why they are in this house. If they were all geneticly aggressive I would not be able to fix them with proper training and care. I house Danes, Rotties, GSDs, Dobies, Pits, and have even worked with evil little dogs that had multi bite records. PEOPLE distroy dogs. It is that simple. Harsher laws on responceable breeding and selling of dogs, as well as laws on TRAINING your dog, would be of greater value to the responcable dog community than banning a breed.

You make it sound like a knocked off television that fell off the back of a lorry. She has had the dog since he was a teeny pup and he's on the exempt list.
