i live in a rough area too linda in some ways im glad coco goes balistic at strangers ive had junkies eying her up thru the fence when we first had her saying oh thats a nice dog ,i put a lock on the inside of my gate to stop her getting nicked

now i make a point of letting her bark at ppl bein nosey cos she sounds huge and nasty

i darent even leave a spade on my front and nip for a pee ,sad isnt it :frown

on the tattooing q if your boys are softies and love ppl i would def have em tattooed.

Nash is an unknown quantity at this point
Nash is both tattooed and micro chipped. Moving forward the SV will stop the tattoo requirement and move to micro chipping only, my next pup will be micro chipped only.

If you want to tattoo then do it early (6-9 weeks age) as adult dogs are very hard to hold still for the clamp and tends to mess the tattoo up so it can be hard or impossible to read (useless and you traumatized the dog too). Another plus for doing it early is that as the ears grow to full size the tattoo digits grow also are become easier to read during trials.

I think its a personal choice, once you have the dog.
Jazmin was done at 6 weeks, with the rest of the litter.
Its a good idea to put a tag on the collar, that does not wear against another, to say its been done, and where.
The NDTR insist on this.
Its done using a green vegetable dye.
