Welcome Ian, nice to meet you, sorry to hear about your loss, it always leaves a huge void, we lost our last girl to heart failure on Jan 17th, we have her ashes on the fireplace next to where she used to lay, along with her favourite toy, she was 13 and our last rescue girlie.

The house was very empty, and we didnt know what to do with ourselves, so we took on another rescue about a month ago, and although she will never replace Skye, all our dogs are different, and we had a space to fill, so why not fill it with a gentle soft creature who needs a loving home.

Hope you manage to find a GSD that likes cats, a lot of the rescues do, some of them have probably even been brought up with cats, good luck

The last dog we had before the Shepherds was a Norwigen Elkhound, we went on holiday and our son moved north and lived in our house to watch the dogs, when we got back he mention that `Shade` was a bit grumpy with him, we just thought it was because we were away.

As the days went on he got no better, so we took him to the vet and she looked at him and asked if they could keep him over night, so to xray him first thing in the morning.

The next morning they let him out to go to the toilet and he droped down dead. He had a tumour that had burst,.. the only good thing about it was that there is no pain,.. just a feeling of uuckk

Still miss that dog
