The feeling you are experiencing is not unusual even though the pup hadnt been born,..we all get very high hopes when we have a new dog in sight,.. we hope that you will still stay with us even if you have yet to secure another one.

Of course I would also recommend a rescue dog, but as you say, you must be certain of your choice,..at least do the rescues justice and go and have a look, tell the rescue what your ideal dog would be, and voice any fears you have about the dog and your children,...a good rescue will try hard to put the right dog into your home,..and not just try and get rid of another one,...if you are not completly sure,...walk away
