Unhappy Devastated

Ok, so yesterday I took the step to register on here and got a lovely welcome. Our pup was due to be born at the end of this week and we were looking forward to getting him home at the end of November.

I got an email from the breeder at 11pm last night to say their girl has had a phantom pregnancy and there are no babies

I honestly feel devastated but is that not ridiculous given our boy hadn't even been born yet?

I also feel terrible for Shadow (the mum). It must be horrid for her.

So, our search for a new baby is on again. If anyone knows or could recommend a good breeder of medium or long haired dogs I'd be interested to hear.

xx

Oh dear thats terrible news. So sad hope the mum is ok!

Im sure someone will be along soon to advise you or recomend a breeder, however have you though about rescue dogs there is lots of young dogs looking for the perfect home, through no fault of there own been put in for re-home.
There is some really good GSD rescue sites, with dogs of all ages looking for a forever loving home.

What sad news for you. I am sure you will find something suitable. Just don't be tempted to rush into anything too fast.

No I definitely won't rush. I've waited a long time for my pup so a little while longer isn't going to kill me and I'll be happy with a good solid dog.

I will look at some of the rescue sites too, great idea, thanks for that.

So sorry to hear, I would recommend the rescue sites too, thats where our girl came from, there are lots of younger dogs too, but an older dog suited our circumstances better.

My only concern would be the fact I have 2 kids (age 6 and 5) so I'd need to be very careful with the dog's temperament. At least with a pup I know it'll be used to them.

I've spoken to the breeder and she is planning a mating in January with two stunning GSD's so unless a dog steals my heart for Rescue I think I'll sit tight until then.
