Now I know full details of what I need to be aware of I shall most certainly take this into account when searching. Again, as I said I came here for advice and I now have it albeit I still believe I should have been given the benefit of the doubt with a slightly less harsh reply but I undertand your concerns.
Thank you for your advice and it will most certainly be used.

Hi Christine, welcome to the forum.
I would just like to say in wildmoor's defense, it is difficult sometimes on a forum to suss out the people who join under a false name in order to sell a litter of pups, or promote bad breeding (breeding for colour/coat length without doing health tests). For all anyone knew you may have been the breeder, or a friend of the breeder just trying to get free advertising for the litter of pups.
Sadly the GSD world is sometimes not a very nice world, people often join forums like this to cause trouble (there have been a few recently). Breeders that don't health test and breed dogs with HD etc. don't like this forum much as it tells people about them and how they are ripping innocent people off.
Unfortunately buying a GSD pup can be a minefield, there are so many breeders out there that sound convincing - plus of course once you actually see the pups you are totally lost! ALL pups are appealing and easy to fall in love with, whether they are healthy or not.
What we really need is a 'sticky' or section on here that tells people in simple, basic terms what to look for when buying a GSD pup. Plus where to get the information/double check what the breeder says.
Far too many people don't even know what a KC registration/pedigree looks like - let alone what health checks, or how far back in the pedigree those checks should go.
Like you say you have waited for a long time to be in this position, so it is worth waiting for the right pup. Remember this pup is (hopefully) going to be with you for the next 10/15 years. You want those years to be happy ones - and we want to hear all about them and see the wonderful photo's I am sure you will be taking!
Good luck with your search for a pup.
Sue
