It is very sad, and I feel so much for the man,..but it is debatable who was to blame here,... no child of that age should ever be left alone with a dog, no matter what the breed of how friendly you furball pet is

What the hell was the dog doing left alone with a 2 yr old?
Some people really annoy me, have they no sense at all?
Hard to tell who is to blame, but more than likely the owners, nobody knows what the 2 yr old did to the dog, so how do you assign blame?
So so sad

Terrible tragedy but I agree with everyone else, why will people not learn?!
Plus I had read the other 2 dogs were bitches and one was in season so this could explain perhaps why the male was aggressive??

ive just lost my rag on another forum, someone said the "dad was wrong and should have waited for it to be PTS humanely as the dog was being a dog"
wtf stupid thing to say, that implies that all dogs rip into kids. i understand totally his actions, geez my neo hugos head is huge compared to my 6 yr old stepgrandaughters,id kill him to get him off her,i dont let anyone mess with him anyway, god knows what it must have been like to see a tiny 2 yr olds face in a male DDB mouth,i think this was someone whos bought them in to breed not had them from pups, mastiffs are loyal n loving to their family, this man has to live with this and look at that precious little angels face forever

I hope the father gets arrested for criminal damage which is what harming an animal brings.
Yes sad that the girl was hurt, but no need to stab the dog to death IMO!

I dont suppose he even thought about it,.. it would simply have happened in sheer rage,..it may not be nice I am sure he was a nice dog,...., but can you really blame him

He maybe didn't think about it, but I still feel that actions have consequences, and him murdering his dog is worse than his dog mauling the child as a life has been lost as a result (I just pray that the little girl recovers). If he had waited for police or whoever come in a situation like that, they would have humanely put the dog down (albeit, probably a bullet in the head, but still IMO that is more humane than being stabbed to death).
Lets not turn this into an argument though.
Does it say anywhere what happened to the other two dogs (other than being taken away) as surely if they didn't attack then nothing should happen to them?
