Kennel Club/BVA GSD Hip & Elbow Scores The BVA Canine Health Schemes serve to provide dog breeders with the option of testing for certain inherited diseases, to enable them to breed only from dogs which have fewer or no signs of inherited disease and thus help to reduce the incidence of these diseases.

The lower the score the better.

hi its true the lower the score the better, but regarding jesses grandparents scores i wouldn't take these scores 4 granted as ty's parents scores were very low and both champion show dogs and yet his hips are bad so best get your own test done for jess and good luck hope you get good results for your beautiful dog..

Although granparents' low scores don't necessarily mean that your dog won't get HD or ED, it's certainly an indication that he's less likely to. The more people who score, and the more people who only use low scored dogs for breeding, the better it will be in the long term for the GSD.
