Kennel Club/BVA GSD Hip & Elbow Scores The BVA Canine Health Schemes serve to provide dog breeders with the option of testing for certain inherited diseases, to enable them to breed only from dogs which have fewer or no signs of inherited disease and thus help to reduce the incidence of these diseases.

Thanks for that Beki
Kaiser is too young to be hip scored and the reason he is having his hips xrayed was to see if anything- any Moderate to severe HD due to his walking and standing posture(although this is no longer the case as since his supplements and Hydro and diet he doesnt walk strangly and stands beautifully)
Vet said to xray at his age wouldnt really show much unless he has Moderate to severe HD but he also thinks it could be due to his huge growth and it is just his growing too quicklyreally hoping it is the latter!
Unfortunately Kaisers parents were not hip/elbow scored and probably not tested either but his grandparents were and they have good scores.
Good news is Kaisers littermates seem to have no problems with their hips So im keeping everything crossed for Kaiser.
Have you got the results for Ellies hips and elbows yet Hon?
Hope she is feeling better today

Beki is a jewel in the rough
vet had a look at the x-rays as and when she was doing them and Elbows look fine as does her right hip but there is signs of arthritus/HD in her left hip, there is a growth of bone that ment the hip was alot shorter than normal and ment they couldnt put it down as much as they usually can so just wait and see what the BVA come back with but that could be weeks as they only meet once a month but dont publish when they are meeting so it may be this week or they could of met the day before we sent off the x-rays lol !

she is fine, she has no symptoms atm and charges about like a loon no worries! lol just means its something to look out for in the future maybe cant tell at the moment, just take it as it comes!

we have never intended to breed, but like you she has not test results in her history and as she was hving a GA for her ears anyway i thought i would get it done at same time, glad i did now!
