Kennel Club/BVA GSD Hip & Elbow Scores The BVA Canine Health Schemes serve to provide dog breeders with the option of testing for certain inherited diseases, to enable them to breed only from dogs which have fewer or no signs of inherited disease and thus help to reduce the incidence of these diseases.

GSD/BVA GSD Hip Scores

KC / BVA HIP DYSPLASIA LIST

Below is a list of Kennel Club registered dogs of the breed specified above, together with their sire and dam, giving the date that they were hip scored, the score for the right hip, the score for the left hip and the total hip score for each dog. The maximum score for each hip is 53 making the maximum total possible 106. There is a breed mean score (BMS) for each breed, and breeders are encouraged to use only dogs and bitches with scores well below the BMS for breeding. Further information on this scheme can be obtained from the Kennel Club or the British Veterinary Association

You are all welcome, I think that potential GSD Buyers have a right to see the Scores, I wish I had this information available to me when I purchased my dog

Hiya

I am surprised that nobody else has replied to you. I am interested to find out what the comparison is between SV; BVA/KC; HipPenn & OFA as at the moment we can only assume this. I don't think anybody has actually done a comparison test and I know one orthapaedic vet I mentioned it to coudn't see the point.

To compare OFA and BVA you would need the individual scores for all 9 areas, not the total score. The SV again is different but they have at least made it more difficult to get A stamp

Hi Pam

I was in touch with OFA and they sent me a form to submit my BVA plates if I wanted to as they are taken with the dog in the same position, but their xrays can show right down to the patella joint

It would be interesting and something I am thinking of doing in the future

note to remember many showline dogs scored under sv system and not KC /BVA are not listed so could be many dogs missing . So cant assume kennels are not scoring or take these as the only dogs scored under certain affixes .
