There are several flaws with this idea...
Firstly independant and supermarkets are likely to be buying their fuel from on of these two suppliers... So the hit isn't going to be as harsh as protrayed, they still generate money from punters, just from another source!
The biggest culprit is the government, they are the ones that is levying high duties onto the basic fuel costs, in the region of 90p per litre of fuel!!!!
So our anger and disgust should be aimed at the government, they have the ability to change and reduce the cost overnight if they so wish....

Another flaw is that is that even if we all stopped using bp for a year they would still survive , purely on the income generated by their crappy overpriced sandwiches!
£3.15!! for a couple of bits o bread... joke.
Oh sorry off topic, the solution i really meant to suggest is to get a marker pen and put a capital D in the gap on you registration plates, then fill up , get back in the car without paying, and drive out of the forecourt with the window open screaming " diploooomatic immunityyyy" from the car!
Easy

We moan when we pay $1.35AUD a litre. They charge different prices here in Australia on different days of the week. My OH is obssessed by it and will only buy petrol on a cheap day!!!
Four years ago cheap was 99cents now it's around $1.25AUD a litre.
Petrol should have come down in price as the Australian dollar is now worth the same as an American dollar.
By the way interest rates are really high here and we are expecting 3 interest rate rises this year.....nightmare!!!

Just for your info parents on Isle of Lewis are paying £1.49 a litre for diesel and Barra is already at £1.54 apparently.
Petrol is somewhat cheaper but not a huge amount. We are travelling up in April and will be doing in excess of 1200 miles round trip - bank is gonna take a hammering.

I put diesel in this morning and paid £1.42 a litre, I only get about 20 to the gallon so its costing me a fortune now when I did my books I found my fuel bill had risen by £2000 since last yr and they wonder why businesses are going under
My car is even worse I only get 17mpg out of it

Last October I did approx 700 miles in Alberta, Canada (round trip from Calgary, to Edmonton, to Jasper, o Banff and back to Calgary) and paid about $60CAD for the tank and a half of 'gas'.
I pay just short of £60 for a tank of petrol and that gets me 360 miles here on Teesside.
Filling up on average every four days makes the eyes water and the bank balance grimace! Roll on new job!

LOL did you hear about the Asda petrol station that fooked the decimal point and was selling petrol at about 12.9p a litre? Apparently the police had to be called as cars were queuing out the store as people phoned friends and family.....HILARIOUS

Well Willo, things change a lot in a year when it comes to gas. I'm in Toronto, Ontario. Our gas has taken a spike recently and at present we sit at $1.24 CAD a litre.
(And we have Oil, what's wrong with this picture?)
