my old girl Fran went deaf and she did respond to hand signals could do distance control with her too!pat

Lucy was taught both. Indoors, I don't have to say a word, outdoors she needs a verbal command. I do think hand signals calm her and keep her focused.

At the moment Sully is mostly voice altho thinking about it I do use hand signals to re-inforce some, eg, wait or sit but it is mostly voice command at the mo

Yer, I use and train both, many dogs' respond much better to a visual aid and because we do teach distance control using your hands/body it's necessary to train.
