dumped rat

got up this morning to find a rat in a mucky cage dumped on my doorstep.

poor little guy has the worst wound I have ever seen on his side, it has been left for ages and his skin is rotted and I can see about half an inch inside him, the smell of infection is putrid,

I have cleaned him up as best I can, vet at 12.30, hope they can help him, he is very sweet natured even with all the pain and neglect

Poor, poor creature!

I'm not a great fan of rates, but I hate to see any animal treated like that. Hope he's going to be ok.

this is the 3rd rat dumped on me, people know I rescue animals...

thing is, if they had knocked, told me the circumstances he had been injured but had no money to treat him, I still would have took him.

I put £60 a month away for my own rats and I will use some of this, he is such a sweetie.

why oh why do people get animals on a whim, they dont just need to feed them, they need money for vets fees, and if you haven;t got, dont get the animal in the first place

Well thank god for people like you Hilary really, it's a sad state of our society at the moment that people get pets, don't take into consideration the money it takes to care for one and then dump them

I hope this poor fella gets well soon..x

Poor rat, lucky he found you. Terrible neglect. My daughter has a lot of pet rats, lovely pets - gentle intelligent creatures.
