Haltis are the best thing ever I think - I read on a forum once that a breeder thought it was disgraceful and that you shouldn't need to use that sort of thing to control your dog, you should be able to walk him/her perfectly with the proper training - well, if only. I also walk Jake now on a halti and it has enabled me to walk both of them together.

I use a leather head collar on Zandi, not because he pulls but as stated else where he is placid and friendly but if provoked there is no stopping him and he will defend himself. I defy anyone to restrain him without the use of the headcollar. Alfes on a half check he isnt as strong.

I use a Halti or the Illusion collar in crowded places because he seems to get quite excited and can pull but otherwise I walk Deez on a normal lead as he walks by my side.

I have just taken dax for his first walk with his iilusion coller on what a difference it was a pleasure no pulling , hanging back , and no constant checking for him to stay close , I have always used a half or full check when training it was a pleasure and no sore hands either lol colleen

Yeah, well I bet that breeder lives out in the country where s/he can carefully control the dogs surroundings. Try teaching a dog to walk nicely on a leash in the middle of the city!

I am working on improving my dog's heel. Someday, I would like him to have enough self-control that I can trust him not to go bezerk over small prey. But in the meantime, that Halti is squirrel and cat insurance!

Hi Jo

When we tried Diesel with it the first time, we put it on him and played games with him wearing it (in the garden) so he could get used to it being on him then we clipped the lead on and walked around with him, this really help when we then went for a proper walk.
