Freya - 7yr old Female GSD
Please help, I need to rehome my 7yr old female GSD who will be 8 on 26th July 2011 we have had her since she was 4yrs old.
She is a black & tan short haired, neutered, microchipped and has been hip scored.
She has a lovely temprement and is very much a people dog, does not like cats, she is house trained, good in a car, very good on a lead and off a lead.
I am having to rehome Freya because she has attacked my husbands 3 nearly 4yr old Working Cocker Spaniel 3 times now, we do not know why she has started to do this as they have both been kept together since the Cocker Spaniel was 6mths old they even used to sleep in the same bed together, luckily I have managed to seperate them without getting hurt but who knows what could happen if she attacked again so I am having to keep them seperate which is making things really awakward and also I have 2 children and im worried that they might forget and leave a door open for Freya to attack again.
Me and my family love Freya to bits and it's very heart breaking to have to rehome her but deep down we know that it's for the best.
I would love for her to go to a home where she will be the only dog, no cats, live inside not out and have all the attention she needs.
If you would like anymore information or interested in rehoming her please telephone Hayley: 07584902652.
I do not know how to post photo's but if you would like to see some I can email them.
Many Thanks.
Hayley

Before you consider rehoming her, have you taken her to the vets?
She may be poorly, and this could be causing her attacks (

I had a similar problem a few years back - the attacker had an ear problem.
Once cured, all was fine again.
Do get her checked before you decide, as Kissy says - she may be ill.
good luck
xx

Hi thanks for the replies and yes when this happened before I did phone a dog behavourist and she said the same so I did take them to the vets and had them both checked and they were both fine, the behavourist did say it could be other reasons to, such as one of them wanting to be top dog also because the Cocker was only 6mths old when we got her Freya treated her as a puppy and now she sees the Cocker as a mature dog. When Freya attacked on Tuesady this week, 2 days later the Cocker came into season!
Freya has attacked the Cocker 3 times now the 1st time was Nov last year, the second 9th Dec this year I know the date because it was my daughters birthday and the 3rd was 14th Dec, i just don't understand why this is happening, is it going to happen again and when, do I take the risk in keeping Freya and hope that it doesn't happen again?

Please help, still looking for a suitable home for Freya. Took Freya to vets for her annual booster and health check everything is good, no problems with hips in fact the vet said she was in very good condition for her age. I discussed again the problems I am having with the 2 dogs and that since the Cocker has been out of season for a few weeks now we tried them together again but still they are both on the attack. I am having to keep them seperate and I feel this is not fair as both dogs love being indoors and the only way I can keep them seperate is by keeping 1 outside which I am not happy about. My husband doesn't want to rehome the Cocker as she is his working dog and he has spent so much on training, this is the reason why I am having to rehome Freya as she is a pet dog, I love all my dogs and am finding this really hard to deal with but I know that in the right home with lots of attention Freya will bring much love and be a very happy dog.

Whereabouts in the country are you? (Don't mean the exact place but a general area/county would be good).
Sometimes when bitches fight it is not able to be resolved through training etc. and when you have children around it is not a good situation to try and police.
Have you tried any other specifically rescue sites?

Hi Sue,
Im in Cambridgeshire near St Ives.
I really don't want Freya to go to a rescue as I don't want to stress her with being in a kennel waiting to be rehomed, I really want to keep her here with people she knows until I can find her the right forever home.

Sorry, I didn't explain properly, I meant sites like the BIGGSD, they are specifically a GSD rescue site where people (and rescues) post dogs that need rehoming.
The BIGGSD site is here:
Biggsd
Might be worth posting her details on there, people looking for a GSD are more likely to look on there than on a forum like this.
I hope you are able to find a good forever home (you may be really lucky and find one near to you), I know how difficult it can be to keep two bitches that fight, I had litter sisters that fought, luckily I don't have children so I could take the chance and keep them - but it was still not easy and I spent a good deal of time at the vets and learned how to do a lot of dog first aid!
