Looking for a temporary home for my Champagne GSD

Hi there,

I joined this forum in hope that I could find an experienced GSD owner who could temporarily re-home my 3 year old male GSD.

The reason for this is that my housing situation will be taking a turn for the worse in January and I can no longer afford my rent due to bad employment circumstances.

He's fully vaccinated, inoculated, de-flead and de-wormed. Excellent with other dogs, a bit wry of older males but in no way aggressive and fine once he's familiar with them. He's good with kids. Can be a bit excitable towards cats so initially would suit a cat-free home with a couple or family with a lot of spare time on there hands, unconditional love and undivided attention.

He's a lovely lovely boy, a big gentle giant with a lot of love to give.

I need him rehomed for around 6 months or so, maybe more while I get myself back on track.

If anyone could help me please let me know by PMing me.

I live in Southampton, Hampshire, UK and ideally someone in or around that area. (within 20-25 mile radius)

Thankyou

I am only 18 miles from Southampton but I can't help, sorry, as I am about to move myself in February so I have some upheaval coming. Why not contact Southern Counties German Shepherd Rescue near Ringwood and see if they have any ideas?

I can see that your situation is not a good one,.. but to be honest, I think trying to rehome your dog for such a long period is heading for a certain amount of trouble

Such as, whos dog is it if medical treatment is needed, possibly in a hurry?, will you be around to sign a concent form if an opperation is ever needed?

What happens if the dog goes missing or is stolen, or worse still killed on the road?,..who is responcible, who owns the dog then?

What happens if after 6 months or longer when the `stand in owners` have fallen for the dog, and dont want to be parted,.. there is a lot of heart ache in what you are asking

There are many more everyday problems that can arrive that need a clear owner

They are excellent points Stuart, fostering for a long period is a big ask of anyone, it's too easy to get attached
