rex, 4 year old large black GSD

I believe Rex to be a full GSD. I do not have any papers to prove pedigree.

Rex has not been socialised with other dogs and is unsure how to treat them. He ignores most dogs, rushes at some and then is at a loss as to what to do next.

He has since been to vet, and passed as fit, had jabs, been wormed.

During the last 2 months I have been training him and he has improved in many ways but I have now reached a impasse.

2 weeks ago on a long lead, he rushed at another dog. In the process he twisted my spine and has reactivated a ruptured disc in my spine. I have been on the flat of my back since.

Whilst I believe that I could have retrained him before this incident, I now see that my spine will not allow me to have a dog of this size and energy.
I am not currently able to walk him properly.
I live alone and therefore must reluctantly rehouse Rex.

Aw Brendan such a shame he is a lovely looking lad.
Is there any chance when your better walking him on a head collar, so you have more control rather than rehome him, then carry on his training, could a friend or doggy walking service not walk him until your better.
Bless i see your problem though, and whayever happens wish you luck

May I suggest posting him on Biggsd and GSD Rescue Surrey and German Shepherd Rescue and telephoning Vigil GSD rescue? They may be able to help you.

Tedsmum will become famous soon enough
Please do not give you dog up to anyone who says they will take him before even meeting the dog.
There are many people out there who cruelly use dogs to make money and as desperate as you may be, you would not want your dog to get into their hands.
Please contact rescue societies who will vet any potential new owners.
Good luck to you x
