sad

Hi,guys and girls, just registered,I have had 3 GSD before and love them to pieces, the last one died of something to do with his anal gland, totally devestated, after 3 months decided to get another one ,a cute puppy called Ben, gorgeous dog black and tan with white front paws, hes now just 6 months old, walks nice ,sits, stays, great dog,Unfortuatly my work is changing and my parents are 75 years old and they cant cope with him when im out,Hes FULL of energy, been thinking over the last month to let him go to another owner, but its not easy as you get very attached. In the evening hes in play mode. When I get in he has a big walk and run,Want to calm him down at night or he will have to go,as its not fair on my parents.I give him roast bones to keep him occupied, but after that its play time again,I know this is normal as hes just a pup,He also barks ,but not a loud bark but a yap like bark, I think this is for attention,Spent most of my time keeping him happy and playing, but he wants more, breaking my heart to let him go but, might be for the best.Any help or advice,or does any one want another GSD ,if so he MUST GO TO A GOOD HOME ,NO MATTER WHAT. thanks mark

Hey Mark and welcome.

Have you thought about getting a dog walker in? Even if it's 2 half hour walks a day, at least it will be company for Ben. Where abouts are you?

Yep dog walker is a good idea- will break up the day for him.

I appreciate your parents are getting on but os it beyond the realms of possibioity that they could do something with hin during the day? I don't mean go for miles of hikes but just some simple training practice like sits, waits, leaves, downs, some tricks etc to mentally tire him?
