Cindy is a 3 year old white, semi coated German Shepherd Dog. Cindy has had a poor start in life and there is hardly anything known of her history prior to August 09. Cindy was taken into rescue in August 09 when we had a telephone call saying that Cindy was going to be let loose on the street, the person that owned her was being threatened with eviction because he had one dog to many. We collected Cindy from a large estate in Portsmouth and was informed that she already had 2 previous homes, generally being passed from pillar to post on the estate. This is all the information we could gather from the owner, except that she had puppies at 1 year old.
Cindy went into foster and was living with 4 other German Shepherd Dog’s, it appeared that Cindy didn’t have any issues, except that she didn’t like cats. We were quite happy to re-home her to a new home in Devon. Unfortunately this did not work out as Cindy became quite possessive of the owner and this manifested itself in nervous aggression. Cindy has since gone back to her foster home and since then she has shown no aggression.
Ideally we would like a rural home for Cindy, with someone that has German Shepherd Dog experience and can be firm but fair, and help her through any issues that she has. She will bark at strangers who enter her “space”. We have found that Cindy is better living in an outside environment, and we would also like her to be re-homed with other outside large dogs. We will not re-home Cindy with small children and would prefer older teenagers and/or an adult only home. Cindy cannot be rehomed with cats as she will chase.
If you can offer Cindy the home she deserves and would like additional information about her please contact us.
