Sorry I didnt read your previous message properly and hadnt noted the reference to kennels.... I wont be going down that route, I'm confident given time and effort I can rehome her directly, we've gone a year a little longer wont hurt if it ensures I can rehome her myself particularly as I'm not happy about kennels as an option

I hate to say this, and I am not trying to insult you in any way, but you do seem very determined to get rid of this poor dog, I can understand that you are on your last option, but lets see what we can do there may well be someone out there will to help you and your dog

You say you are doing this because the dog is so misrable at the moment, yet being rehomed may make the dog a whole lot worse, one of my rescue dogs had to be rescued from a family who `rescued` it in the first place.

I thought a lot about weither I should post this or not, but as a vollunteer for a rescue group I have seen this so many times, if you give it to a rescue, a 6 year old dog may be in kennels for years,.. he may not of course, but GS often go down hill fast in kennels, please think very hard about this, and if you have thought about it, please think again.

If on the other hand you can find someone privatly, maybe someone you can look in on from time to time and assure yourself that your dog has indeed gone to a good home, then that would be the best option, and a great result,.. we will all hope that you can do that

Stuart

Yes you were writing that as I was writing mine,...if you could rehome directly that would be the best for both you and the dog,.. you mentioned `in time`,.. if while you were looking for somewhere, someone was found to walk your dog so that you could keep your dog, say someone who reads these forums would that then become another option?

Stuart

If it were a perfect world and someone was happy to come and walk my dog for me for free on a regular basis for the long term then obviously things would be able to be reconsidered.

I cant imagine anyone being in a position to do that for us long term though.

In the past several people with all good intention have made the offer and it has never come to anything.

Kissy1921 is on a distinguished road
I didnt mean to upset you, and sorry if you found my post harsh, just stating the obvious, and going thru all the options, Stuart is right tho, at her age she may be in 'rescue' for a while.

Please dont think I was being hard, just had a lot to so with rescue dogs and some of them do go downhill very very quickly, we are currently working with a rescue dog that has lost her home, and for the first two nights with us she shook and cried all night, only to be relieved by being allowed on my bed and cuddled, to which she managed to settle down, and everytime i moved i got a tail wag and a licked face lol .

She has now settled a lot more, and sleeps on her own duvet at the end of my bed, these dogs can be rehomed, but it has to be to the right owner who would know how to cope with the stress she may go thru so please be very careful in your rehoming if not thru GSD rescue, and i would advise to get her speyed first.

Thinking of you, and hope you get this sorted out xx

I'm afraid I couldnt get to wigan, I'm in the southwest with no car or money for distance travel.

I want to avoid her going in kennals though and try to rehome directly from me so perhaps if you're able to get information on her out that might help??

Sorry if thats a silly suggestion I'm not entirely sure how all this works lol
