14 month old bitch - Beautiful dog, needing a forever home - ASAP.

Some of you will remember us.
Having given it our best shot, hours of heart ache and chewed remote controls, I have made the hardest decision of my life and decided Bear needs far more than I can give her.
I am very sorry to those of you who tried hard to persuade me to keep her. I did listen and I tried, but having been let down by dog sitters, increased my hours and am now being taken to the CSA by my evil ex, I feel I have no choice but to find Bear a new loving and permanent home.

THis is where I need help and support now, not to be told I need to try harder, because believe me, I have tried. Very hard.

THis is now about Bear, a very beautiful and loving companion.

To those of you who don't know us, this is Bears storey.

My husband of 23 years desperatly wanted a German shepherd to join our large house and family and our other dog, a 9 year old retriever.

I worked from home as a foster carer, had 3 kids, a big house and garden and plenty of time for walks and love.

4 weeks after we got Bear, my husband and I seperated after his revalations of a string of affairs and other unsavory pastimes I care not to mention. But due to his ongoing behaviour, I had to leave the house until he moved out. But, he never did. I lost my home, my kids, all the money that he moved into his own name and all the other animals I had in the house. I was very attached to Bear and he decided a piddling puppy was too much hassle so she went to my sisters until I was sorted.

I began a new relasionship, a very loving one, and found a rented house that agreed to take Bear and one of my 3 cats. But it is small with a tiny garden. I have had to go out to work now as my ex hid (and has now spent) alot of our savings. I tried very hard to find work where I could take Bear with me, but somedays I need to be out for 6+ hours and she suffers from separation anxiety and gets bored. (the DVD remote will vouch for that!)

Bear is now 14 months old.
She has been spayed and is due her jabs this month which I shall get done.
She is regularly de-flead and wormed.

She is fantastic with kids but is a bit of a licker and can be very bouncy, so may not suit a family with very small, crawling sized children. I have been a foster carer and trust her implicitly with any child I bring into the house. She was also living with my sister and her 4 and 7 year old, so has plenty of kiddie experience.

She is good with other dogs. A bit wary of the bigger ones until she has had a sniff, but great with the little ones. Will adjust her level of play to suit the dog she plays with.

She recalls well and comes when you say 'this way'.

Pulls terribly on a normal lead, but trots like a little pony beside you on a halti lead.

Has a delecate tummy, prone to the runs on anything out of the normal range of dried dog food, but completely house trained. Will eat her own poo if left in the garden - a throw back from when she was told off as a young dog for having diarrohea. The vet says she now feels she needs to clear it up.

She will travel for hours in the car as I have taken her to work as much as I can, but will bark at other dogs which really makes you jump unless you see the dog first!

Not crate trained, I won't do crates!

I have a cat who tolerates her, and she is mostly very good with him, but she wants to herd him all the time, is totally obsessed with him and likes to tell him off when he scratches the carpet! He bit Bear yesterday and she didn't retaliate!

Bear will sit, lie, roll over and give her paw when asked.

At bedtime she gets straight in her bed and awaits a treat! She is shut in the kitchen at night and wakes up about 9 at weekends.

Very attached to me and follows me everywhere round the house during the day - even to the toilet! I blame myself for leaving her with my sister while I was rehomed after seperating.

A few months ago, she had a terrible accident, where she impaled herself on a lump of wood after chasing some deer, but she has fully recovered from that now, only left with a scar just visible under her fur.

I recently had her assesed for joining the police but they said she was too small and pretty!

I had a new home all lined up for Thursday this week, and after hours at their home, walks togther, meeting the kids ect, they told me their child minder didn't like dogs, so we are back to square one. The only trouble wiht that, is we have booked a holiday which coincided with her going, to help get over it. Now we are all booked, and have lost our doggie home.

So please, if you can help give Bear a forever home, asap, please do call.

We live in East Grinstead, but I am prepared to travel up to about 50 miles to visit you with Bear. Ideally, I woiuld like someone who has been home checked.

Tamzin 07944 025772.

Photos to follow, but battery about to go, and don't want to loose all I have written.

Again, I am so sorry to those of you who were so desperate for me to keep Bear, but I know whats best now.

Thank you all.

Of course we remember Bear,..how can we forget such a brave dog,..it must be hard for you,.. but if its not to be then its not to be.

I would suggest you place the area you live in here, so people know if you are close to them, put up a better photos to show bear off.

Get in touch with the nearest rescue, and see what they say, if they are good then they will assess Bear correctly and should be able to find him a home,.. you can also be a part of that if you wish,..tell them that Bear can stay with you untill somewhere is found,..it will save them kennel fee`s

But for such a brave dog, please take your time and try hard to find him the best home you can
Best of luck

Thank you all. I have spoken to a few rescue centres, one locally where I completed the online application form but no one got back to be, and I have also been in touch with Vigil GSD rescue. She is about to go on my BIG GSD rescue and have had some help with what to put.
I shall update and spell check last nights listing and thank you Stuart - yes I forgot to put where we are.
I was worried about putting something on here as you ALL said keep her - keep her - but its just not that easy, and porr Bear is so lonely through the day.
Today though, she is coming with me this morning to work and I'm off during the day and I'm going to make up a photo album of her, so I'm sure a few tears will be shed today.
THakn you again.
Tamzin and Bear. xxx
