thanks all, hes found a home not sure if its a forever home as they wanna c how he gets on but he went to my sister in law nxt door so not far away, we did have a problem with him hence y she took him right away it wasnt just his fault...
he got out so went to get him, hes been fine with my dogs and was fine with other dogs while out on his lead, was fine with my mother in law dogs but when he got out he went over to a terrer sniffing it, the terrer snapped at him and he snapped back then the owner kicked ty in his ribs which then turn his attack on the dog as soon as we saw this he got the comand drop and leave which he did do right away, told the owner to get the terrer to the vets and we will pay what ever bill that comes from it, he only had a puncher wound the owner had him put down as they couldnt pay the vet fee (even tho she was told we will pay it) then when she came back she started blaming us for the death of her dog an now we,ve a fee of the vet and cremation when i dont think this was our fault asif she hadnt kicked (and i dont mean a soft kick it was full on and my dads dog yellped follwed by the attack) it just makes me think was it my fault he attacked or was it the other person there that kicked him

Sounds from what you have said that it was the other dog that started it and its owner made matters worse by kicking yours. It is sad that they had to pts theirs but, without knowing the extent of the injury, I would have thought it was close in cost to have the dog treated rather than pts. Hope all goes well with the rehoming.

Regards

Ian

the yorkie terrier was aleart and even wagging its tail in the back of the car, even after the ten mins of her sayin i cant take it to the vet, (yeah she didnt take him rite away) the gsd in question as even been up to my sister in laws ex husband who also has a small dog and he was fine with her not even a growl, its seems to me as the kick is what started it,

Was the yorkie on a lead? From what I can understand of the law at the moment if your dog is off lead and gets into a fight with one that's on a lead you are liable even if the other dog starts it as that dog is classed as being 'under control' whilst yours isn't. If they were both off lead maybe you could offer to go halves on the bill? as their dog started it and the owner didn't help matters.

That's shocking! I hope he isn't in too much pain, I have had to kick a dog off of Logan before, I still feel awful, but it was a staffy and it got hold of Logan around his neck when he was about 6 months old and he just wouldn't get off, the owner couldn't get him off either so the only choice I had left was to kick it off as i thought he was going to kill my puppy

I don't think you should pay anything to be honest. In fact I think they should pay the vet bills for your dog as they kicked your dog and caused the injury.

Legally the police will do nothing for a dog on dog attack, so legally you are not in the wrong.

Did they put their dog to sleep on order of the vet? Or maybe they just could not be bothered to pay the vet bill. Sounds like they did not care about their dog very much and could well have been about to put it to sleep anyway (or get rid of it). A simple puncture wound like you describe would not need much treatment, usually only antibiotics.

Seems to me like they are trying to pull a fast one. Are they demanding that you pay the money to them?

I definitely would not pay anything.

That must have been a really hard kick to break a few ribs. She is really lucky that your dog did not turn on her (if it was my dog she would have got more than a mouth full off me ).

Hope your dog is feeling better soon.

Sue

it stated of as just a sniff the yorkie snapped at him an he just gave a warning snap back nxt thing i see as my partner is running up to get him is a full kick to his ribs and then my dog yelpped jumped back and grabbed the yorkie cause the yorkie lungged at him again he grabbed him on his back which my partner was then there to assist and he was told to leave which he did right away as he normally is great with other dogs and is well trained (his recall needs working on tho) he then looked at my partner to say "what he started it" but he had left i think 2 puncher wounds that wasnt bleeding that much, the dog was alert but whinning a bit,
after 10mins they took him to the vets then came back saying he was dead, we have contacted the vets themself as we use the same one and they told us the chose was down to the owner, the vets said they could have treated him but would have cost a little more as hed have had to stay there a few days but as we told the owner we was and are willing to pay the fee, yeah i know i shouldnt have to as it really wasnt my dogs fault but out of kindness we said any vet fee we will pay just bill us,

i do still feel as tho we could have prevented this and that its our fault and am not even letting jerrylee (who is the best with out dogs has never growled snapped barked or nothing) in the garden by himself as am just so worried about it all, i know it wasnt tys fault and that he reacted to the kick and the pain he must have been in and am sure if he didnt drop the dog when he was told to then yeah we would have more than likely used force ourselfs to make him but the fact that he got kicked when all he done was a snap at the little thing to so say "dont push it pall" was way out of line,

we are still offering to pay there bill and are deff not giving the money direct to them am going into the vets and paying it but they will also recieve the bill for ty, av been round and he is still at the vets getting sorted with pain killers antibiotics and they are thinking on serdating him for a little while as he just wont lie down and relax so the pain killers aint kicking in for him (he hates being in any type of cage kennel etc, my dad rescued him as he was always in his crate all day every day so he took him of them when ty was about a year old) he looks ok but can so tell he is in pain poor old boy
