Max, 3 yr old GSDX, Lancashire

Hi

It is with deep sadness that we need to find our beautiful dog, Max a loving and patient new home. My partner and I are separating and unfortunately will no longer be in a position to give Max the care and lifestyle that he needs. He's a very handsome GSDX, not sure what with but we think it may be staffie. He's 3 years old and we've had him for 2 years. He's come on leaps and bounds since we rescued him and is extremely fit and healthy and much more confident. He's up to date with his injections and also has a passport as he's had his rabies jabs. He's also neutered. He travels very well in our van and we've taken him to Scotland which is about a 5 hour drive with no problems. He can be sick sometimes on very bumpy roads or twisty roads but is ok with steady driving and likes to lie on a mat or in a bed.

He doesn't like to be left but will cope with up to 2 hours in his crate (which he adores!), this can come with him but it is a large crate.....he shares it with several cuddly toys! He'll really need to be in a home where someone is around for most of the day.

He's extremely affectionate and adores cuddles and attention and does have a very funny personality which has kept us amused!

He does also have some anxiety and likes plenty of exercise to keep him from getting bored. He loves long walks through forests and countryside and is in heaven when either swimming or running, he's been known to run 15 miles behind my partners mountain bike and loves it!

He's not toy or food aggressive and generally obedient but can have selective deafness if he's fixated on finding his ball. On the whole his recall is pretty good and he's very responsive to positive reward training.

On the social side of things he does need a little work and patience, some dogs he's fine with others he takes exception to and his hackles will come up, generally though he'll want to play but can display a little overexcitement. He'll also bark at people coming to the house or onto his property but once they have been invited in he's their best friend and insists on bringing a cuddly toy. He does need a little help with becoming a more balanced dog and we would very much like him to go to someone who recognises his needs and is prepared to work with him and knows what to expect.

As we got him from the RSPCA, a homecheck will be required so potential owners will need a secure garden and for Max to sleep in the house, which we would want for him anyway. Also they won't let him go to a home with young children. Also a transfer of adoption will be necessary and this will need to take place at the east lancs rspca. We can however bring Max to visit you to even out any travelling necessary.

He's a gorgeous boy with a tremendous amount of love to give and I'd hate to see him go back to kennels, so please if you could offer him a home do get in touch.

I've added a pic and can provide loads more and will happily answer any questions you may have.

Best Wishes
Kat and Max
