Unfortunately I have a serious back problem that requires me to use crutches and means I am unable to walk for more than a few meters, so couldn't do justice to another dog at the moment. Never know though on a positive note maybe I could get a skateboard and a german shepherd who no doubt would love to learn to tow me along....lol

Sorry to hear this, however as you say on a positive note I regulary see a wheelchair bound women with a dog (mixed medium sized) & the dog walks very well beside its owner etc.

Welcome to the forum Deb,..sorry to hear about Grommy,.. you keep thinking about another dog,.. a pup would soon learn to `deal with you` and not the other way around,..I also once saw a man being pulled by a large dog [ not Shepherd ] around the town, they were both coping very well,...something to think and talk about

R.I.P. Gromit. Bear up & think of the wonderful times he gave you.
Maybe when you're not quite so upset you could think of ways you could cope with another dog. It leaves such a huge hole in your life when they're gone.

Bless him and you , he was gorgeous , you must have lots of happy memories and how nice in a way that he went in his sleep at home , safe and relaxed , I hope my old girl goes the same way when the the time comes , she is also 13 yrs , im dreading it but i know the time will come when i have to say goodbye , im sure you are not over him yet , and with the health problems you have its a lot to consider , but if and when u did consider another dog remember there are older ones for re homing that wont need as much exercise , just something to think about as it must be hard for you to be without a dog , best wishes Lx
