RIP Spike

Spike has been ill all week and has not eaten either. he is drinking, but not enough.
he started to be sick and had contracted hemoratic gasto enteritis.
we both went to work yesterday and Richard (my husband) popped home to check on him yesterday morning and found he had been sick again and had messed in the house. he phoned the vet and took him straight over.
they put Spike on a drip to rehydrate him and a drip with antibiotics for his tummy.
the vet phoned last evening to say he wanted to keep him in over night to keep an eye on him.
we were to phone at midday today to find out if the antibiotics had worked.
we got a phone call this morning at 8.20am from the vet who told us Spike had passed away last night at 10.10pm.
he had checked him at 8pm and he wasn't too well but he decided he wouldn't give him a sedative. he went to him again at 10pm and he really wasn't well at all and at 10.10pm he took his last breath.
he just went to sleep..........
the vet told us that if he hadn't died last night he was going to ask our permission to put him to sleep today anyway. nothing worked on my baby boy...........

i am heart broken i loved Spike sooo much, it's like i have lost a child........

Oh my god Elaine, I am so so so sorry - I am sobbing as I type this! My heart goes out to you, you must feel absolutely devastated, like you say it's like losing a child, I know Diesel is my baby too. Please know that we are all here for you, whenever you want to talk....*sending you big hugs* I don't know what to say to you

I truly hope that now Spike can free run at rainbow bridge....

I am so, so sorry for your loss. You must be devastated.

Although it is no consolation, at least you know it was Spike's time to go, and you didn't have to make that awful final decision,he just went to sleep, my heart is breaking for you. Nothing can compare to loosing your loyal companion. My thoughts are with you at this sad time.

We are all here for you.

Run free Spike.
