My lovely Sheba... gone but never forgotten

On 26/03/09 just gone we had to make the heart breaking decision to put my Sheba to sleep. She was almost 15 years old and her health was failing, she had been ill for a while and although she had the best vet care it was sadly her time to cross the rainbow bridge. We got Sheba from Battersea dogs home. She was a fantastic dog, so loyal, and a fantastic example of the breed. We spent every day together, all 8 years and 8 months. I will never get over having to let her go, it was a peaceful passing and she was on her favourite bed, my darling baby will always be in our hearts forever.

I am so sorry to hear of your sad news. I know it is heart breaking. You gave her the loving home she needed and she enjoyed her life with you. Having very recently lost Mishka so suddenly we know how hard it is. Nothing right now will heal your broken heart but I am sure in time the memories you have of Sheba will make you smile rather than cry. She is a very beautiful girl and I know she will be missed dearly.

Her Journey's Just Begun

Don't think of her as gone away-
her journey has just begun
life holds many facets
the Earth is only one

Just think of her as resting
from the sorrows and the tears
in a place of warmth and comfort
where there are no days and years

Think how she must be wishing
that we could know today
how nothing but our sadness
can really pass away

And think of her as living
In the hearts of those she touched
For nothing loved is ever lost-
And she was loved so much.

Lots of hugs for you

Jenni and Ash

I am so so sorry for your loss, she looks like a beautiful girl. Its been 4 weeks for us and the memories and knowing thay are at peace makes it so much easier.
There is a place called
Clover Heaven;
Where Life is renewed
and pain removed;
Where bodies are healed
and whole again;
Where life is now
filled with glee
as it must be;
A place our babies must go;
This place called
Clover Heaven.

Where the meadows are
full of Life
with peace and frolic
and no strife
nor fear of danger.

The flowers in full bloom
always changing colors
ever so grand
and a home for many others.

The breeze so soft,
free, and flowing;
So pure and brisk
and moves the grass
ever so tall,
it is a velvet carpet
after all;
So soft and smooth,
so very snug;
tis a good place to curl up
and take a snooze
and bask in the sun
that is ever so warm.
This place called Clover Heaven.

Where the water is so pure and clean;
it looks like a mirror
that I can see
and admire the renewed me.

The clover seems to reach the sky
so full and free
a good place to romp and play
hide and go seek.

So you see:
The sun so warm,
The water so clean,
The grass so smooth,
The breeze so soft,
The flowers in bloom,
A place to romp and play
To bask or bathe,
To snooze and rest
With food aplenty
And water to drink
With bodies whole
And free of pain
With life renewed
and filled with glee;
A place they must go
To await their masters.

So dear Master
Dry those Tears
and smile again
For I wait for you
In this Place called
Clover Heaven.

I am so sorry for the loss of your lovely Sheba, you must be heartbroken.

I hope you find comfort on this forum, many of us have been where you are now, and know how you are feeling.

The poems are lovely Kyesmum and Jenni, and brought a little tear.

Sheba, thanks for your support

Thanks to all you kind lovely GSD people that posted messages of support. It helped me a lot. Its 8 days since Sheba had to go to sleep. I feel a little better. Only time can heal us in the long run. I am glad that I found this site. All the dogs are lovely. Bless you all.

bless you, i have tears in my eyes. I know exactly what you're going through, as i lost my Bane (my profile pic) last year aged just 5 1/2 years old. He died of cancer of the brain and spine. He had also had a stroke. It still hurts and I really do feel for you.
