Cypress...my baby boy

As some of you may know i was on here a few months ago for my boy Cypress. He was a 2 year old mastiff mix who started having seizures at the begining of the year. He was put on phenobarb. which helped him very much. on 3-31-09 at 1:23 am he had his first fit in over 30 days. it was a fast grand mal. an hour later he had anouther. through out the night he had a fit almost like clockwork every hr sometimes faster. Every time he came out of one a part of him was gone by 7am he seemed blank. i called every vet near by but we live over an hr away from any emergency service and we would not have been able to get him safely anywhere. the vet told us to give him a double does of his meds to see if we could break the cycle long enough to get him help. the fits came faster. we were told by almost every vet that the pheno should stop it and if not and he was not coming out of them like he should anything they could do would prolong what we knew was already happining. at aprox 10am we put our boy to rest . the house is still his sister and echo are confused and i dont know what to do with myself. giving him his pills, babyproofing him in case he seized in the night, not going out for fear of something happing to him and not being here, being greated at the gate.. its hard to be still without his head in my lap.

So sorry to hear this. Such a beautiful boy and so young too. Our Ellie (BSD) has seizures but only occasionally so not on any meds. She had cluster fits at the end of last year. It is not nice to see and very upsetting. Hope your other two come to terms on the loss of their friend. You take care of yourself and your babies.

Run free Cypress and sweet dreams. xxx

Really sorry to hear of your loss. I have been through a similar experience with my old girl Skye, she started with fits at the age of nine, this happened every month for 8 months, always in the early hours between 4am & 6am. Every time the fit seemed to take something from her, I couldnt tell you what, just something ! When the last one happened although she did come round from the fit, there was nothing left of my girl, Im sure you know what I mean. The following day she was pts.

Run free Cypress, no more pain.

Jenny.
