memoirs of a shepherd will become famous soon enough
Must read article

I was sitting at the computer thinking as always that 12 months ago we still had Brandy in our lives and a few days later on 20th july well......, the tears streaming.
I came across this story below and thought how very sad but how fantastic at the same time, a real energy injection for dog lovers everywhere.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

A few days ago, 1/13/2009 I came across a dog staggering on the side of the road. I truned around to see if the dog had gotten hit by a car, but he dragged himself into the yard and under a trailer. A Hispanic man came and out and we tried as best to communicate. He said the dog was only 8 months old and had been sick for 2 months or more. I asked if I could take the dog to my vet and with some hestation he said yes.

I felt it was the later stages of distemper and our vet confirmed. We put this poor pup out of his long misery and pain. But even while I held him in my van and the needle was injected into his vein to end his such short life, he wagged his tail and licked me. A lick I will not soon forget.

I know we did the right thing and I try not to be so very angry at the Hispanic family for letting this pup suffer.
A death that could have been prevented.

PLEASE, all of you loving people, try each day to make a difference in the life of a neglected or abused animal.

This pup was doomed from the start and it did not have to be. He did not even have a name, they called him Black Dog.

Well he did have a name in the end, it was Jake and he was loved at least for a short time.

Jan
