I don't own a dog, I own a land shark!!
I have decided that Willow isn't really a puppy, she is actually a land shark - a four footed running biting 12 week old monster!! She is still chewing like there is no tomorrow and as for the biting........ Please tell me that she will one day get over this because at the moment she has decided that electrical wall sockets look like interesting things to chew, when she isn't chewing the radiator pipes that is!!

You do realy need to be firm with her, when not supervising cage her. when shes biting you if she does stop when told remove her from the room, or remove yourself and ignore until shes calm, do you have any dog gates as they would be usefull aswell

I was told to 'yelp' loudly (like they do) and turn my back to dog.
Eventually works !!
My pup is the same at the moment but has decided that paperand cardboard are great fun - he looks at me so proudly when he has shredded something in a second !!
I know it's no use disciplining after the event - have to watch like a hawk and sort as he does it

Yep it's all about finding the most effective method for your dog to understand that biting = end of all fun. Firm but fair is the only way to go....you'll get there in the end I promise

When Oka tries chewing things - current favourite is the bottoms of my sofas - i tell her "NO", move her away and put something acceptable into her mouth. If she tries again she gets crated for a minute or so. For Oka at the moment, all chewing is mainly because of teething and by the looks of her mouth it must be mega sore! She has lots of other things to help her through this stage like;
frozen dish cloths
bones
frozen kongs
frozen bananas/carrots/ apple slices
Dentastix (as per packet directions)
Sometimes a tug game helps
raw hide chew thing (i wasn't keen on rawhide but she really loves it)
If she chews on you the only thing i found to work with Oka was to ignore her and then crate her (calmly) if she tried again. I also found that regular nap times helped immensely!

All pups chew. The problem being they don't have teeth, they have razor sharp needles!
Yes, she'll grow out of it, but a lot will depend on you. You must be firm & consistent. I've never got on with the yelp when a pup bites me, it always seems to excite them further (probably just me!). I say a deep, long "Noooo!" and then turn away & ignore, or walk out of the room. If you're playing with a toy & the biting starts, then play must stop until the pup's calmer.
If necessary take your pup into another room or crate her till she's calm. At all times, though, you must remain calm & in control (even if you don't feel like it!). It WILL pass.

boredom, or teething possibly?? iv got my puppy lots of toys, and chews. im not saying that this will definatly work, but i will say, my puppy is 21 weeks old and since we had him he has never chewed, bitten or nipped anything in our home. in fact we have had 3 gsd's and all have been the same it may be that we have just been very lucky. although we have owned german shepherd for over 17 years, im by no means an expert, in fact far from it. still learning all the time, have posted on here a few times for advice. so chances are, there may be other more experienced owners on here that have got better advice. but i must be doing something right, as iv had some wonderful, loyal german shepherd dogs
