Evening Madness

Does anyone else have trouble occupying/controling (prob not a good word) their pup in the evening. Jazz is 15 weeks and after her teatime walk (prob her least energetic due to dark nights) and spends the evening in lounge causing trouble, being mouthy, stealing, chewing etc until eventually she conks out or we crate her - reluctantly. We do try some training but loses interest and doesnt seem to tire her out.

Some advice from those who are or have been there would be great.

my two boys have been playing ever so rough lately. Mostly first thing in the morning ( after a good nights ) and in the evenings as well.
So I bought them some nuckle bones from the pet shop a few days ago. Whenever they get out of hand now I will give them a nice bone to chew on . And it does work magically. Apart from a gentle munshing noise you can here nothing at all. No more wild chasing etc.

Maybe that might work for you as well.

our 15week old gsd also does this too.i thought it was rather like a childs behaviour-sort of over tired and not being able to relax and sit as quickly as we would like.

Sorry can't really help... We make sure that Dex gets lots of stimulation and exercise during the day.

Something that has helped us is if its just a mad 5 minutes then we join in the rowdiness for a while, and then flop on the floor like we're tired. Not sure what the experts would say about this, but Dex tends to copy our behaviour so we see this as a way of modelling correct "its evening time" behaviour.

Maddies prey drive does seem to go up a gear after dark. Her ears are always in hunting mode at night.
