whining/moaning....Oh My GOD!!!!

I cant believe how much noise can come from my 9wk old pup!! She whines when she wakes up, when she wants to go out for a wee, when shes hungry, when shes bored, when shes tired, when she wants attention - in fact ALL the time and I mean ALL THE TIME!!!....IS THIS NORMAL????? As u can imagine she's sending off mixed signals all the time. we dont think she needs to go out for a wee (coz she just went 5mins ago) and she wees on the floor!!!! AAAArghhh, any1 else have the same problem?

Do you react every time?,..it is very easy for the pup to train the owner if you are not careful,..of all the times you mentioned, I would only react to the whining to go out, I would try hard to ignore her all the other times

She is very young yet, she will be missing mum, missing her brothers and sisters, all of a sudden she finds herself alone,...and she is worried,.. give her time to get used to her new surroundings, her new family,..give her chance to settle down

Exactly! Pups learn very quickly that certain actions lead to food/fuss etc. If you know she doesn't need anything then just ignore it. Difficult, I know, but it's the only thing that'll stop her!

Absolutely agree - she's suddenly on her own.. she needs comfort but also training. Don't react to the whining but keep a close eye on her and you will understand if she needs something. Also consider teething. I used to give mine small pieces of ice pops.. or an ice cube to lick (cools a teething mouth).

It's amazing how quickly they learn at a young age once they have settled and not missing siblings (doesn't take long).

As for peeing etc in house - they all do that !! look at other threads on this site which will help you with that training.
Hang in there - it'll be worth it.

yes it sound normal but as the other say dont ponder to her or you will be the one trained!

storm cried all night everynight for two weeks and slept through the days (as she was so tired i guess) when she was awake she was wining, yelping and crying. we ignored and she stopped. they do miss littermates and siblings. its must be wierd for them and as much as i am sure we are all good alternatives it takes some getting used too xx

Sheps can be very vocal and as has already been said they are smart and learn very quickly what gets a reaction....ignore it unless it's obvious it's for a genuine reason.

Heather you are not alone, Diva is exactly the same! She moans/ whines about everything and anything, as I said in another post she sounds like a rebel teenager - and she hasnt even entered that stage yet LOL!! God knows what she'll be like then! Fingers crossed she'll undergo a total transformation and be an angel
We ignore her when she starts moaning, we have more urgent business to deal with, ie her biting, to be bothered by the whining, ah ah!
