Its not getting any better

Sorry but it seems i'm only posting on here with problems and nothing good. We've had our pup now nearly 3 wks we love her to death but her biting seems to be getting worse....WITH MY HUSBAND. Its not so bad with me, she has her moments with the kids but when my husband strokes her she goes beserk! She arches her back like a cat on the prowl then she goes for it, biting his feet, legs, fingers. He doesnt treat her any different than i do, shes either showing authority or doesnt like him!!! Or can it be anything else?? My husband is coming close to not wanting to keep her ......please any suggestions??????

Bonniesmummy is a jewel in the rough
Sorry Im in no position to be giving advice just really going on what Bonnie was like..... she was a wee nipper, she would bite hands arms feet but it was mostly just with me and Im the 'leader' type person lol. It went on for weeks and my arms looked like I was a self harmer!

Ive never had a dog before and just thought it was cute playing when she was so tiny but as she got bigger it hurt more and was more of a nusiance so first off it was my own fault she was acting that way as I encouraged it!!!

I tried loads of things that people had said, saying owww loudly etc. I got so stressed out by it and I think that only made her worse. In the end what worked for me was when playing and she started to bite I would get up and walk away from her into another room, totally ignoring her for a few mins, then going back to play.... I did this for as long as it took for to get the message that if she bit then no play. I also tried giving her a toy if she started to bite too.

Hope you get this sorted soon

That's the way I'd do it. Show her that she gets no attention at all (from anyone) if she bites.

A firm NO! and ignore pup, turn away from her. If she persists put her in another room away from you for a time-out period of a minute. Let her back in, if she does it again, repeat.

Be wary of giving toy if she bites or she'll bite to get the reward (toy)! Yes, they are that smart...

Going from my dogs present + past, it's a 'play mode'

Try getting OH to do everything for pup just as an experiment, feeding/walking/everything. See if that makes a difference. Also ensure there are firm boundaries. If 1 of you says no, mean no. No criticism from me, I'm the world's worst offender for my woofers doing what they want

BUT they have always without fail stopped mouthing when I've told them to

xxx

ps any posts are good posts, good or bad, post away to say anything in the world + someone will always be on here xxx

Sorry if I misled, what I meant was I tried giving the toy instead of her biting me to bite that instead (recommended by someone) but that didnt work, as yes they are that smart lol. In the end it was ending play that worked by walking away to another room.

I also tried putting HER in another room and closing the door but that made her go nuts in there barking scratching at the door, tearing up whatever she could reach/get in there

As previous poster said its a play thing. They'll lower their head, look straight on and go into stalk mode, then 'attack'. Cute when pups do it but not if your hands are the victim!
