Hey Guys

Ive had lots of good advice since joining here regarding my 5 month old pupster Jess and I guess i'm looking for some more.

Im helping out my rescue as they urgently needed someone to take a dog for the weekend before she goes to foster care on Monday, so i've booked tomorrow off and she coming to me tonight.

I dont know much about her cept her name is Lola, she is 11 months old, lives with 3 other sheps and if she not rehomed her owner will be evicted. she is apparently dog/cat friendly. I know nothing else as she is'nt being asessed until tonight an hour before she comes to me.

Sooooo, as Jess is my first GSD I would like some advice on what to expect as im used to having a puppy and dont know what to expect of an 11 month old that is being taken from her family. My OH is prepared to give this dog the extra attention it will probably need, he is much more confident with dogs than me so I feel he would be better taking on a lead roll with her. Could anyone give me some advice on judging the situation when they meet, how likely they will get on, two females both young.

What to do about sleeping arrangements, do I leave Jess in her crate where she normally sleeps or put the new dog in the crate and put Jess in with us, ooooww so many things Im not sure about.

I will take some pics of them together, she goes to new foster family on Monday apparently.

Any help and advice, as always is appreciated.

p.s My daughter thinks im mad, we have 4 cats too! lol

Well done to you for helping out.

I would keep Jess's routine as it normally is and ideally I would introduce them on neutral territory and walk them leaded together then go back to your house.

I've had many a dog come and stay with us and Diesel has always been totally fine as long as the meet happens outside the home first.

Maybe it might be better to keep the foster dog with you, unless she is crate trained? Do you have another crate?
xx

To be perfectly honest I dont see me keeping her, but only because its just not the right time for us yet, we are training jess and with us both working full time we have to rely on my sis in law to come in to Jess 3 times a day which they both love hahah i dont feel i would be able to split what preciousl time I have with Jess with another just yet, shes quite hard work and the training i'm doing with her is so important

But hey, im in no rush for Lola to go, i know there is someone special out there waiting for her, she is fab company, so laid back and if we are lucky enough to have Christmas with her and all that lovely time off work then that will be a bonus.

four cats and two dogs hahaha we must be mad.

If anyone is interested in giving Lola the forever home she really does deserve please let me know. She is sooooo bloody gorgeous and needs a forever mummy and or daddy to give all that love and cuddles to xx

Annette

Sounds very sensible Annette, I really admire you for going with your head and not your heart, when the time is right I'm sure you will be able to give a GSD a great home.

I hope you get to spend Christmas with her though

Tedsmum will become famous soon enough
She looks wonderful, I saw her details on the rescue site.
I would dearly love another but my hubby is opposed.
Where are you Annette just incase I can get him interested?

Yea Gill she is a cracker and i cant believe how well behved she is compared to my naughty Jess. She was delighted when we took her out to the doggy park and let her off the lead to run my god if she could have screamed with happiness she would.

We are in Ellesmere Port by the way. I have loads of piccs of her if you want to add me on face book to have a look

(Annette Swift)

Let me know if you are interested xx
