Car setup for Ford Mondeo

Hi All,

Can anyone recommend a good long-term solution for setting up my Mondeo (06 reg) for a GSD?

I'm looking for ideas of where in the car to put her, and what products would fit best in a Mondeo that maximixzed her space and safety.

Thanks
Ian

On the back seat with a harness on, you can get a little lead like thing, clips onto the harness + the other end clips into the seatbelt thingy.

Both mine have them, I put things between front + rear seats + a cover over so they have room to lie down + stretch out but are confined so can't try get on your knee whilst you're driving

Or, seats down + cage if there's room?

I prefer the harness myself, they just lay down + go to sleep

Ian, my OH has a mondeo and I would go with putting her in the boot with a dog guard up to stop her climbing over the back seat. While she's still little you could put a cage in the boot so she settles...

I'm not keen on the back seat option, I've tried it... but it's a faff with 2 GSDs harnesses belt clips etc. And then you need seat protectors or a hammock... then to take all that off if, heaven forbid, you have to transport humans in the back of the car...

I know what you mean, but I always worry if someone runs in the back of me, depending on the impact, doggie will be hurt or worse
or, boot could fly open + doggie can escape

It's a personal preference thing that's for sure

We've got an 08 reg Mondeo and have a dog guard and a boot liner in the boot. We got the dog guard from Halfords and the boot liner from Ebay. We used to have an 04 reg and still have the boot liner if you wanted to buy it. I think we paid £1 on ebay plus petrol!!

We have found the boot liner invaluable as Harvey can get car sick and it stops it going on the fabric.

Just want to share with you - I have a colleague who has a friend who had 2 (large) dogs. He had a guard and they travelled in the back of the (estate) car behind it.

He was hit behind by a truck - he was injured but recovered well, however, both dogs were killed in the incident.

Back seat for me every time.

if you are putting dog or dogs in the rear of a car i would strongly recommend that as well as a guard up front you also fit a tailgate guard to stop dog getting out when rear door is open also if it is very hot you can fit a vent lock to the rear door which does not affect the locking mechanisem and also gives the dog fresh air .
