Tara barking at us?

Only just today Tara has barked at me and then my partner upon coming down the stairs in to the living room and kitchen, kind of a guard dog alarm bark, four loud woofs no growls and then wagging her tail and hugs. Is this normal, is it like hello or something or are we practicing at warning of people. Like I say no aggression just a couple of mega loud woofs and then waggy tail hello.

I'm sure there will be a difference of opinion about this but for me, as much as I might think it's endearing, there's NO WAY my bubbas are allowed to bark/growl/anything at us.

They're not allowed to growl at each other, unless it's during supervised play.

They 'speak' to us, but that's little 'contented' snuggly noises, but definitely no barking/growling, unless we invite them to play ( unfortunately they play really loud + rough )

For me, the behaviour you describe is 'hello, come into my kitchen/lounge/whatever, today you 2 are going to do what I say'

Sorry but wouldn't have it

Oh crap how should I deal with this then, she isn't being naughty as such or scary in any way, I don't want to scold her for it. Not got to quiet and speak
yet, she is 18 weeks old.

Awwww, she's only a tiny baby

If it were me I'd completely ignore her if she barked at me, turn my back on her. Then when she's quiet, she gets attention.

I hadn't realised she was a lil bubba, they just try it on, if she barks + you tell her off, she's getting attention ( YOU WILL DO AS I COMMAND ) ( NO ACTUALLY BABY, YOU WILL SHUT UP COS I'M GOING TO IGNORE YOU)

Don't know if that makes sense but that's the way I'd do it, but everyone will deal with this differently. This worked for me, good luck x

Tedsmum will become famous soon enough
Don't stress about it, I would expect it is the excitement of you appearing through a hole in the ceiling which is making her bark. She has found her voice and is using it.
Don't get bogged down with dominance etc at 18 weeks, she is a baby.

I agree I would simply ignore and when she's calmed give attention. It's like when they see heads appear over fence panels with no body attached! Lol xx
